24th Solvay Conference on Physics
"Quantum Theory of Condensed Matter"

Brussels, 11-13 October 2008
chaired by Bertrand Halperin (Harvard University, Cambridge, USA)

This is a conference by invitation only.

Some background information on the Solvay Conferences

The First Solvay Conference on Physics took place in 1911 at the Hotel Metropole in Brussels. It was followed by 42 other Solvay Conferences on Physics or Chemistry. As it is well know, these played a crucial role in the development of modern science, as can be seen from the list of participants in the 1927 Solvay Conference.
According to tradition, discussions are essential. To initiate them, each session starts with one or two reports. Both reports and discussions are published in the proceedings.
The Scientific Committee for Physics of the Solvay Institutes can be found here.
